JAZZ AND MORE: „Jazz + Trombone feat. Tim Hepburn“
Indispensable in every big band, central to early jazz forms and Swing, and yet often underestimated: the trombone represents versatility and expressiveness in jazz, and occasionally even a virtuoso, melodic solo instrument on stage. In February, the Jazz&More Trio presents the young Australian trombonist Tim Hepburn. Hepburn is one of the most versatile trombonists on the European jazz scene, combining the highest technical precision with stylistic openness. As a sought-after soloist and sideman, he has played with Steve Gadd, Bob Mintzer, Mark Forster, Max Mutzke and many others, is a regular guest of the WDR and HR Big Bands, an a member of the Heavytones. Since 2024 he is a professor of jazz trombone in Würzburg. Hepburn will explore how te trombone became an integral part of jazz history and how it continues to shape the present in it’s very own way.
